Seeing Red:
The New Moon in Virgo & The Red Planet-
Too Close For Comfort
Along
with this week's Mars Madness, Mercury Retro, and over-all Mutable
Mayhem, There's a new moon with a crimson-tinged silver lining to
be had by all as Jupiter enters the hard working, roll-up your sleeves
- and dig right in sign of Virgo.
Unless
you've been living in a cave (which may not be so bad at this point),
you've heard all the hoopla about the August 27 perigee of Mars
to the Earth. Yep, Mars the red planet and lord of war has been
traveling retrograde (backwards) in the oceanic, soulful, psychic,
and salvation-seeking sign of Pisces since July 29, while moving
closer and closer to the earth.
This
week, he'll be closer than he's been in (some say) up to 73,000
years!
He
will also move closer to once again conjoin unpredictable Uranus.
And we've been feeling the effects for several weeks.
The
Martian 'zapping' has been global and harsh.
In
addition to the latest round of hateful violence in the mideast,
the tragic blow-up of The UN headquarters in Baghdad, the
Bombay bombing, the thousands of deaths from heat in France, the
thousands of displaced inhabitants of Northwest Canada, The Eastern
United States endured the biggest blackout in history.
What's more, nearly everyone I've been in touch with in the last
few weeks (including me) has experienced an exhaustion bordering
on chronic fatigue.
Encouraging however, is Friday's ruling in favor of the first amendment
- Fox News lost its lawsuit to block Al Franken's new book 'Lies
and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the
Right'.
So
will this week's new moon offer some Karmic Relief?
Not just yet, and while the opportunity for great shifts are present,
the new moon at 4 Virgo coincides with the mercury station retrograde,
implying further review and a holding off on major moves till at
least the end of the Mars retrograde on Sept 27.
This 'pileup' of planets in early Virgo opposite Pisces symbolizes
a 'changing of the guard' as it were. The early mutables represent
the capacity for mammoth breakthroughs, as they land on the axis
of healing/ health of the zodiac (the natural 6th and 12th houses).
These shifts are meaningful.
They can reverse long held and deeply-rooted limiting beliefs as
to what may be possible. Their implications are cosmic because they
(the line-up of Virgo and Pisces planets) are the transition points
from the Age of Pisces to The Age of Aquarius. It would be worth
the time to take a look at where all of this occurs in your own
horoscope and to meditate on what you'd like to see 'dislodged'
and recreated as a result.
This
week also marks the 40th anniversary of The March on Washington,
and Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" Speech.
A look at the Sabian Symbol for 4 degrees of Virgo reminds us of
Astrology's timeless miracle to interpret the meaning of the moment.
The Sabian symbols were recorded in the Spring of 1925, long before
the Summer of 1963. Here is the symbol:
Virgo 4
Black and White Children Play Together Happily: The overcoming
of socio-cultural prejudices.
Amazing.
