Rainbow’s End: The Sun Enters Pisces

Well, here we are once more, at the beginning of the Sun’s transit through the last sign of the zodiac.

Ruled by both magnanimous Jupiter and fantasy-oriented Neptune, Pisces is the oceanic, very psychic, ‘dream-big’ sign of sinners and saints and of victims and saviors.

Sea Creatures

The Piscean experience runs the gamut of extreme joys and profound sorrows and just about everything in between. With Pisces, nothing is half-way: there are no boundaries and few limits. For those born during Pisces month, anything and everything is possible, and for quite a few, life is one monumental achievement after another (Rupert Murdoch, Alan Greenspan, Tony Robbins, Shaquille O’Neal, Michelangelo, Alexander Graham Bell): For others, life is overwhelming and they find themselves at the mercy of those who betray, manipulate, or exploit them (Vanessa Williams’ exploitation by ‘Penthouse’ publisher Bob Guccione comes to mind), are victims of circumstances (Patty Hearst, the famed heiress who was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Symbionese Liberation Army in 1974), or are super-sized con artists and criminals (Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, Osama Bin Laden) who victimize others. Both ends of the spectrum are true.

The signs and houses form a cycle of development, a circle of experience that ends with a new beginning

Bugsy Siegel

Elizabeth Taylor

Benicio Del Toro

Due to their extremely sensitivity, Pisceans find themselves battling illness or addiction (Drew Barrymore, Liza Minnelli, Karen Carpenter), or are poster children for sordid love affairs and failed marriages (Tammy Faye Bakker, Ivana Trump, Rielle Hunter). But they can be just as extreme in their talent, glamour, way with words, and in their ‘actor’s faith’ (Jean Harlow, Sidney Poitier, Queen Latifah, Elizabeth Taylor, Raul Julia, Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Barrett Browning), and absolutely lethal in the charm department and in their ability to seduce musically, sexually, and spiritually (L. Ron Hubbard, Javier Bardem, Benicio Del Toro, Rex Harrison, David Niven, Jennifer Jones, Quincy Jones, Nat “King” Cole, Daniel Craig, Glenn Close, Harry Belafonte, and Jon Hamm).

Pisces rules film, and some of our finest directors: Ron Howard, Spike Lee, Victor Fleming, and Rob Reiner are Piscean, as are film stars Jennifer Jones, Jennifer O’Neill, Anna Magnani. Juliette Binoche, and comics Kelsey Grammer, Billy Crystal. Jerry Lewis, Marsha Warfield, Rachel Dratch, and Gilbert Gottfried.

Arguably, one who possessed of the greatest minds of all time, Albert Einstein, was a Pisces too.

But most important of all, Pisces is the sign of redemption. Just when you think it’s over, Pisces reminds us that if your heart is in the right place or by the grace of God, you’re given a second chance.

Pisces: The promise of a rainbow

For the next month, wherever Pisces is in your chart, be aware of your profound sensitivity, your tendency to exaggerate and occasionally miss the mark, where you can dream VERY big, where your imagination can step in to save the day, and where you can redeem yourself.

This week’s horoscope offers some clues.

Those Saturn-Pluto Mars-y Slow Burn Blues:
Humans Behaving Badly

Since we can’t tack the rash of deadly accidents and extreme violence on to Mercury Retrograde (the next one isn’t until April 17), many astrologers have cited the unforgiving ever-present Saturn/Pluto square and Mars moving backwards ever so slowly (before stationing direct on March 10) as the main culprits of correlation.

Without a doubt, during the past week we’ve witnessed some pretty horrific events: Amy Bishop (b. April 24, 1965, days after Mars stationed direct), the 44 year old Massachusetts-born University of Alabama neurobiology professor who allegedly open-fired on six of her colleagues, killing three; Joe Strack (b. Aug 31, 1956 on a Mars retrograde) the 53 year-old California native who after years of fighting with the IRS burned down his house and published an anti-government manifesto online, flew a Cessna into an Austin, Texas building that housed the local IRS office, killing two; and Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem, the 21 year-old NJ man who admitted to throwing his three month old baby daughter into the icy waters over a Driscoll, NJ Bridge; the deadly military coup off the Ivory Coast in Niger; the tragic accident that took the life of Republic of Georgia Olympic Athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili; and the NJ small plane crash that killed five.

And while that nasty Saturn-Pluto square certainly is descriptive of the explosive quality of all of the aforementioned tragedies, I’m sensing that something else, particularly in the case of Joe Strack’s terrorist action, is a harbinger of what we will be seeing more of as the May 27, 2010 ingress of Uranus in Aries approaches.

Uranus was last in Aries 1927-1934. In 1930-31, the planet of shock was in a tight “T-Square” to Saturn and Pluto. The same configuration will be prominent this Summer and I suspect that there are many more Joe Stracks out there who have been pushed to their limits by the way things are going (personal loss in the face of ever-expanding corporate greed that has pushed them up against the wall, relentless and unjust pressure from the IRS on individual citizens to compensate for government deficits, etc) and who have accumulated one too many setbacks and are about to snap. Please don’t get me wrong, there is no excuse for what Strack or what any of the others gripped by madness did, but I do think that as this sort of frustration mounts, and given the current astrological setting, the floodgates for this kind of lashing out will be unleashed even further when Uranus changes signs- just my opinion.

Carolyn Myss: On Target

Please do not fail to read what Carolyn Myss had to say this week on the Huffington Post.

In her missive, Republican Strategy: Covert Destruction at All Costs, she nails to a “T” what the right is doing to manipulate and confuse the less informed among us to buy into and fight for policies that destroy them.

In her own way, Myss articulated beautifully and clearly what I and many others have said for years.
Here’s a choice paragraph:

Bush and Cheney were the closest Americans ever came to being ruled by dictators. Don't these people get that the Republicans are against health care because they are fundamentally against any and all forms of assistance? If they could take away Social Security and Medicare, in all likelihood, they would. How is it possible that these Tea Party Brown Shirts do not understand that in supporting the Republicans, they are in fact supporting their own demise?

Weekly Horoscope:

ARIES: The Dream/Ideal: You envision a worry-free existence, a Shangri-la to retreat to that is safe, secure, and renews your spirit and you somehow believe that everyone but YOU has 24/7 access to such a place. The Blindspot: No one has a worry-free existence and the Shangri-la experience is damned expensive. Redemption: Work towards aligning your passion and your will with subtle unseen energies on the inner planes, by making peace with your core, you will be that much more receptive to messages, help, and input from the other side.

TAURUS: The Dream/Ideal: A community of empaths and sensitives there for you and call to soothe your spirit (and give you a rub down) whenever life gets to you. The Blindspot: Most of them have addiction issues and are just as needy as you are (with a lot less grounding) plus, ‘soulful’ communities take a lot of work to build and are high maintenance. Redemption: Through healthy give and take, you will feel very supported and loved this month if you turn the other cheek, refrain from being too judgmental, and adopt a live and let live attitude.

GEMINI: The Dream/Ideal: A career path that unfolds like a magic carpet ride with the help of a boss (or manager) who anticipates and fulfills your every need, whim, and desire, and raises your salary just for the asking. The Blindspot: Expecting others to cover for you whenever you feel the need to drop out and forgetting that when certain facts (pieces of info) are omitted- it was you who missed a beat. The Redemption: BE devoted to your goals and committed to results, this is a year of miracles.

CANCER: The Dream/Ideal: A year of travel, inspiration, and escape that lifts you out of your present dilemma while maintaining the safety and security you long for (without working at it). The Blindspot: There are too many blindspots to mention- not the least of which has been running from that which you do not want to deal with. Redemption: By confronting yourself and facing what you’ve been fleeing from, you will avert a potential disaster. Slow down and have faith, you’re much more resilient than you know.

LEO: The Dream/Ideal: that all applications for loans, mortgages, and issues with a spouse’s or partner’s finances will smooth out in and of themselves. The Blindspot: You need to be hyper-vigilant and willing to be the ears and eyes for all parties involved. They (partner or officer) can be missing tricks. Redemption: Helpers and underlings know more than you give them credit for. Do not be dismissive of anyone in your energy field. And reward those that do you a good turn. They’ll be yours for life.

VIRGO: The Dream/Ideal: That a partner or spouse will miraculously step up tom the plate, pick up all of the pieces and make things run smoothly. The Blindspot: They’re in worse (or less organized) shape than you, and you need to be the one holding things together. Redemption: As imperfect as your nearest and dearest are, you do have company and the love and support of those who wish you well. There’s a silver lining in knowing when to say “no” and being okay with it.

LIBRA: The Dream/Ideal: That you can accomplish in three hours a day what really takes 10 and that all of the work you must do is stress-free and flows without any interruptions. The Blindspot: You’re not exempt from the one per cent inspiration / 99% perspiration rule- and you’d better get your sleep, sorry. Redemption: By learning to pace yourself, stick to a schedule, and to delegate wisely, 2010 can be a year of many solid accomplishments.

SCORPIO: The Dream/Ideal: Expressing and living out the “Good-Time Charlie” part of your nature with no consequences. The Blindspot: There’s no such thing as a never—ending party, and sexual gluttony can be exhausting. Redemption: Forthright communication and creative output on your part meets with and cooperation from a higher up (or parent figure) which culminates in an extraordinary win and payday. This baby will out-sweeten any one-night stand.

SAGITTARIUS: The Dream/Ideal: Winning the HGTV dream home, and being whisked away to one of your many sumptuous environments with servants and staff to cater to your every need. The Blindspot: The taxes will kill you, and you need to keep tabs on what you may be allergic to in each and every location. Redemption: Strive for wisdom knowing and choosing where to be and when. If you pick the right spot (warts and all) you will grow in leaps and bounds this year

CAPRICORN: The Dream/Ideal: That your siblings and neighbors wake up, smell the coffee, get their respective acts together and turn your immediate environment into a thing of joy. The Blindspot: They’re mired in their own stuff and are no clearer today then they were the day before, but they may be more receptive in general and easier to get along with for the time being. Redemption: You can be a positive influence with the aforementioned (neighbors, siblings) if you’re okay with taking charge in a benevolent way. Through 2010, commit to never saying “I told you so”, even though you probably did.

AQUARIUS: The Dream/Ideal: That you have no problem generating the income and resources required to fund just about every worthy cause, social project, and charity that comes across your desk. The Blindspot: You can be a soft touch- do your research and know the back story of who’s hitting you up. Count to ten before reaching for your wallet. Redemption: When you’re clear about finances, your skill at making the right miracles happen at the right time and for the right people yields an unparalleled set ‘wins’ and furthers you professionally and spiritually. 2010 will bring a BIG unexpected reward or two your way- you can bank on it.

PISCES: The Dream/Ideal: On a good day, you’re the well-adjusted and creatively fulfilled guardian of myths and legends, with a perfect balance between the unlimited potential of the spiritual realm and the day to day practical side of life. The Blindspot: You forget to pay attention to what’s happening around you, and get caught up in the “I’m in my own world” syndrome. Redemption: Be the empath and the healer that you are and throw you entire being into improving the lot of those in your path but stay on a schedule, keep healthy boundaries, and don’t lose sight of the real world while doing it.
