Two years ago Manhattan astrologer Shelley Ackerman identified
Kerikeri as the place to be in the new millenium. Talking
to the Chronicle, she said she felt New Zealand would become
the "next great centre" on Planet Earth. Her link
with Kerikeri goes back to a trade show held in New York where
she met Living Nature director Suzanne Hall. This week, speaking
from New York, she said she still saw New Zealand as one of
the safer places on earth and offered her perspective on the
terror attack on her beloved hometown.

The New York Daily News interviewed Shelley at the start of
the millenium. The article said New Yorkers may not like what
Shelley had read in the chart for the new millenium.
Back then she was warning New Yorkers to be wary:
"There could be real threats surrounding finance and
the issue of security. I encourage all New Yorkers to buy
earthquake and flood insurance. I don't think there's such
a thing as terrorist insurance, but if there is, get it",
she said.
Talking from New York this week, Shelley said the September
11 disaster was very much a product of the correlation of
two planetary power brokers, Saturn and Pluto.
"When they are in hard aspect very often it talks about
war or the need for endings or the getting to the square root
of something, of a real issue."
She said Saturn was presently in Gemini, as it was in 1972/73
when the World Trade Centre opened: and at the time of Pearl
Harbour.
"Saturn is in hard aspect to Pluto until Spring 2003
and Pluto doesn't leave Sagittarius until 2008. The last time
Pluto was in Sagittarius was in the 1760's, the years that
lead to the American and French revolutions. Early next year
Uranus, the great awakener of the Zodiac, features on the
chart so there will be enormous changes in the geography of
the US."
Like so many others Shelley has tales to tell of people caught
up in the disaster and asks how it was allowed to happen.
Shelley says people are not in touch with their intuition.
"Part of the problem is that for as many of us who have
been working on consciousness, there is equal or greater number
who have been anaesthetized to their feelings or responsiveness.
Here's a case in point.
Last week I was on my way to Martha's Vineyard when I was
spot-checked at the airport. I look about as peace loving
as you can be. What do I have in tow? Some aromatherapy and
some astrology books. At the same time, somehow 19 murderers
not only got through at our airports but got through several
years at flight school after requesting unusual kind of flying
lessons, including flying sideways and, specifying that they
were not interested in landing techniques. This signals that
we can't hear what is being told to us. We are so medicated
electronically and pharmaceutically that we are not even feeling
or responding in the way of an alive person."
She said there were additional hot dates in September, October,
November and continuing through to the beginning of 2002 so
this is not likely to "disappear quickly."
Shelley Ackerman has her own radio show and website and works
as a professional astrologer. She is a frequent guest on talk
shows throughout the United States.
She intends visiting New Zealand, "sooner rather than
later!".
